So if it says "Doraville", that means it is heading North. The names on each side will say WHERE it is heading, NOT the next stop. Make sure that you know which direction you are going. You should hear a ding and "Stop Requested". As you get close to your destination, pull the yellow cord. Stopping at your location: Keep Google Maps open. Simply walk up to the small terminal, and scan your Breeze Card/put in your coins. The bus will stop without you waving them down. Look for the bus that pulls up with the route number Google Maps says you should take. Make sure you are on the correct side of the street. Show up a few minutes ahead of time at the "MARTA" sign, at the location given to you by Google Maps. It will show real-time information on if it's delayed or anything. BUSES: Show up to the location provided by Google MapsĬheck your bus status on the MARTA mobile application. You MUST use a Breeze card in order to transfer for free.Ĥa. So if there are multiple mediums involved in your trip, all you have to pay is the $2.50. AKA from bus to bus, bus to train, train to bus, etc. You are able to transfer four times within a 3 hour period. Once you purchase this card, you can reload the balance online, and get a small discount if you buy in bulk. You can also pay with coins on MARTA buses (the standard fare is $2.50), and then pick up a Breeze card at the closest station. This can be done either at a MARTA train station (there will be vending machines), or online (and it will be delivered to you within a few days). Purchase a "Breeze" Card (aka the way to pay for your rides) But I would absolutely recommend trying it out.ģ. Check out the route times and figure out what is important to you. Maybe you enjoy your commute, maybe parking is cheap where you're going, maybe you don't want to deal with the schedule. MARTA might not make sense for your situation. If you're using it for a one-off situation, just alter the time and see what makes the most sense. The routes will most likely be the same M - F. If you're interested in MARTA for commuting, make sure you select your "leave by" time/day correctly. It will give you a series of buses and trains to take. This will provide you the optimal route, depending on what time you want to leave. Type in where you are leaving from, and then where you are going. I have found the best way to "map your route" is via Google Maps. There can be delays (aka, don't go to a job interview without knowing what you're getting into).You must have a breeze card or coins to ride.The cost is about $2.50 per trip (this includes 4 transfers in 3 hours).However, it truly is a great way to get around the city. MARTA is the butt of a lot of jokes, and has a lot of room to improve. I struggled with it at first, and I would have loved a guide. I am writing this guide for people interested in utilizing MARTA, but are worried about messing it up.
